Ever since the fourth century B.C., long before tales of Vampires spread throughout the land, the Transylvanian people mastered the art of producing wine. Plato proclaimed the vineyards of Transylvania to be the finest in the world.

The Wines became of such world renown that in the First Century B.C., King Burebista ordered the destruction of the vineyards to deter the incursions of foreign invaders into the land. Fortunately, many of the vines escaped destruction, and the memories and knowledge of a wine-loving people refused to die.

Now, Transylvania's most cherished secret, the blood of the vine, has once again been released. Made by a master wine-maker, in accordance with ancient secrets of folklore, combined with modern vinification techniques, Vampire Wines continue to ignite the nocturnal passions.

The production of the entire Vampire Vineyard range is now overseen by Graham Dixon, the former winemaker for Penfolds of Australia. The climate and the soil conditions are equal or superior to the most famous wine producing areas in Europe and other parts of the world.

This product of Romania with the scary name pours clear brownish, burgundy colors with noticeable tearing on the sides of the glass. One is greeted by fairly pronounced aromas of creamy vanilla, raisins, anise, and dark berries. Flavors are the same, although somewhat restrained. Anise finish, slightly nutty and slightly tannic. But, for way under $10, might not want to pass it up!
